Are you always battling against the clock when it comes to meal time?
If you’re looking to streamline your kitchen time and make meal prep a little more manageable, keep reading as we share some time saving and money saving tips!
- Choose ingredients that save you time but don’t compromise your health!
If you’re wanting to save time, look for key ingredients that you can either make ahead or they have done some of the preparation for you. Something as simple as sliced meat – will save you TIME – but not necessarily MONEY. You need to make the decision is it worth INVESTING MONEY to SAVE TIME
2. Go for the basics
Every night doesn’t need to be a MasterChef inspired meal, or plated up like a chef. As a Home Economist I was taught to focus on preparing good whole foods that are delicious and naturally beautiful. Jamie Oliver does this so well showing how to put your meal on a serving plate for everyone to share and help themselves. Go rustic every and let everyone plate up their own meals!
3. A useful pantry is a useful friend!
Determine the ingredients that you use on a regular basis, and keep stocked up on them and write them on the list as you open the packet of the last one in stock.
4. Get the dinner to multi-task – not you!
When you can get your dinner multi-tasking, you have a better chance of saving time. You can also increasing your vegetable intake in your dishes! As an added bonus this will save on washing an extra saucepan. Just put the timer on to remind you when to add different vegetables or legumes at different stages, when to take them out or turn the dish off.
These tips are just the tip of the iceberg to help you on your way spend less time in the kitchen and more time out of it with your family while eating healthy.
