If you’re juggling a busy schedule, it is easy to get tired, run down and susceptible to every cold or flu going around. In this article for What Can I Eat? I share a few tips to help you when you don’t have the time to get sick! Use winter as a time to get creative with your food and test out a few easy meal planning strategies to keep your freezer well stocked.
The other thing to keep in mind at this time of year when you need to keep your health on track is to pick meals with good sources of ZINC!
Out of all the vitamins and minerals, zinc shows the strongest effect on our immune system by fighting infections and reducing how long and severe colds can be. When you’re thinking about your winter meals look for ways to include zinc rich foods such as oysters, beef, lamb, nuts (especially cashews), lentils, chickpeas, seeds (sesame, pumpkin, sunflower), asparagus and spinach.
Don’t forget to mix seasonal favourites with staples to keep your antioxidant levels high: Click here to see what fruits and vegetables are in season in our Meatless Monday Collection.
